LG looks set to release a new tablet later this year, according to one of its loose-lipped execs.
The head of the phone-maker’s Bulgarian division, Dimitar Valev, confirmed the LG G Pad would be hitting shelves later this year, while also dropping some broad hints about other new LG kit.
The G Pad has already received FCC certification in the US, but this is the first time an LG staffer has made any official reference to the device.
Sadly, there are few specific details about the upcoming slate at this stage. Still, Valev did hint that LG would be looking to take on the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and HTC One Max with a new phablet.
Word is the phone will be bigger than its current Optimus G Pro, fitting in with the trend for 6-inch screen-toting handsets.
And perhaps more exciting is that Valev also said LG was working on a smartwatch, before speaking about the Korean company’s flexible screen tech.
Either way, it appears key rival Samsung will beat it to the wearable-technology punch with its Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
