Samsung will reveal its hugely hyped Galaxy Note 3 phablet and the iWatch-baiting Gear smartwatch at a special event on September 4th, two days before the annual IFA tech trade show in Berlin. The news comes from a Korean report, which claims it has the inside line from local Samsung staff.

Pegged for a September release for months, the Galaxy Note 3 is one of the most highly anticipated smartphones of 2013.

Word is it’ll rock a huge 5.7-inch, Full HD display, with a lightning fast quad-core processor and 13-megapixel camera.

More interestingly, Samsung’s Gear smart watch looks set to make waves at the same time.

The device is expected to ape many features in Sony’s recently revealed Smart Watch 2, all the while getting the kind of marketing backing that will ensure Apple’s iWatch will have a major rival to contend with when it launches, potentially next year.

With four weeks to go until launch date, expect to hear plenty more gossip about both devices, with new specs and details sure to emerge in that time.
