ios 7 multi-tasking

iPhone and iPad owners will get the all-new iOS 7 version of Apple’s operating system just as the working day is drawing to a close, previous rollouts indicate.

Apple’s past form points to a rollout around 5pm UK time. That’s corroborated by MacWorld in a very assured-sounding Tweet in response to an entreaty for information.

Less a revamp than a total overhaul, iOS 7 looks radically different from iOS 6. But while the fresh design has split opinion among tech-fanciers, the new features it brings to are likely to be received a lot more warmly.

Among these is Control Centre that lets users access key settings with a single swipe, an improved notifications centre and a much slicker take on Apple’s proprietary mobile browser, Safari.

Apple devices in line for the OS bump are the iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPad 2, iPad min and the fifth-gen iPod touch.
