Samsung’s Galaxy S4 now packs support for the Korean company’s Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
It’s all thanks to the rollout of Android 4.3 to Samsung’s former-flagship phone. The software update was promised at last month’s Samsung Unpacked event in Berlin and serves-up a heap of bug fixes and tweaked firmware.
More importantly, it also brings the Galaxy S4 in line with the recently revealed Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1, the only other two devices to support Sammy’s smartwatch.
The question now is whether this will help boost sales of the Galaxy Gear. The device has had a poor critical reception and remains expensive at around £280.
Perhaps a convenient, pre-Christmas price drop might ensure that at least a handful of S4 owners join the wearable tech revolution.
The Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy S4 is rolling out globally now, so keep your eyes peeled for it if you’re desperate to bring your handset bang up-to-date.
