O2 is to offer the PlayStation 4 and Xperia Z1 as part of a combo contract, enabling would-be owners to spread their payments for the gadget-maker’s latest console. But it’s not cheap.
From November 29th (that’s launch day in the UK), the carrier is offering the PS4 and Sony's current flagship phone for £52 per month, plus a one-off charge of £89.99.
That also gets you 12 months use of PS+ and a copy of the savage first-person shooter Killzone: Shadow Fall.
The phone contract, meanwhile, provides unlimited voice calls and texts, plus 1GB of data per month.
O2 is also offering a slightly modified contract at £47 per month and a charge of £129.99. This is unchanged from the £52 per month deal, except that you get monthly handset allowances of 600 minutes and unlimited texts, plus 750MB of data.
According to Wired, you’ll only be able to sign up for the deal at O2 stores. The carrier apparently has no plans to offer it online or through third-party sites.
The PS4, which is bound to be in short supply in the run up to Christmas, is set to sell outright for £349 or so. Although O2’s offer is undoubtedly expensive, it wouldn’t surprise us if it ends up being one of the only ways to get your hands on the console as we get nearer to the big day.
