Samsung looks set to reveal a new Windows Phone handset, reports suggest, as it bids to become less dependent on Google's Android OS.

The Korean company is believed to be priming a 5-inch phone with a Full 1080p HD display, with rumours pointing to a launch at next month’s Mobile World Congress (MWC).

A filing for the device, codenamed WM750V, has been made with the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. The Bluetooth group’s certificate mentions the handset using Internet Explorer as its main web browser. 4G LTE smarts are also believed to be on board.

While other details are scarce, it’s likely that Samsung will launch this new Windows Phone kit under its Ativ brand. That's the name it used for its previous Microsoft phones, which have largely taken a back seat to Sammy’s Android–backed Galaxy blowers.

MWC, which is also expected to see the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite, kicks off in Barcelona on February 24th
