Sony looks set to launch its much-rumoured Xperia Z2 device at next month’s Mobile World Congress. That’s according to ‘a very reliable source’, who has spoken to the AndroidSaS website, with the information retweeted by renowned mobile watcher @evleaks.
The new top-end handset looks set to be a minor bump up from last year’s impressive Xperia Z1. That means same 20.7-megapixel camera, waterproof and dustproof build and Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine are here to stay.
However, the screen will make the jump to a more capacious 5.2-inches, with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. The battery is also set for a boost, up to a hefty 3700mAH number.
The putative launch date of next month at MWC seems credible to us, especially as Sony appears to be in the habit of updating its flagship handset every six months. The Xperia Z1 landed last September after the Xperia Z tipped up at the tech expo in February.
Last week, Sony revealed its new Z1 Compact device at CES. That phone, packing a smaller 4.3-inch screen, still manages to cram in the same specs as its larger stablemate.
