Samsung vs Apple collision

Apple looks set to call Android creator Andy Rubin to testify in its latest court battle with rival manufacturer Samsung, amid scant sign of an end to hostilties between the tech giants.

The next trial regarding patent disputes between the two companies is due to start next month.

Court documents suggest Apple lawyers will ask Rubin to the stand to quiz him about certain Android features that they claim breach Cupertino’s patents.

Tim Cook and co’s legal team will apparently ask for explanations on how the features were developed.

Rubin created Android in 2003 and sold the company to Google in 2005. He led the Android team at Mountain View until March last year, when he moved to work in the Big G’s robotics division.

Apple and Samsung have been fighting over patent infringements for years. In 2013, Apple won a series of cases in the US and South Korea, leading Samsung to pay significant damages for the use of Cupertino’s intellectual property.
