Apple will again come to market with two smartphones this year, rumours suggest, one of which will be the fabled iPhone phablet.

Sources cited by South China Morning Post claim the tech giant is currently testing iPhones with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screens, both of which will debut in September.

The official point at which a smartphone becomes a tablet is five inches, dimensions fans. By way of comparison, the iPhone 5S sports a four-inch display, which makes it positively pocket-friendly next to the largest Android efforts.

The same insiders also revealed that in line with existing speculation the next-gen iPhones will feature scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass and will pack in 441 pixels-per-inch.

Talk of Apple’s plans for the iPhone range comes amid separate reports that the handset/handsets will feature a bezel-free screen for the first time ever.

This is purportedly to allow the phone-maker to boost the screen's size without making the iPhone 6 itself any larger and to clear room for a fingerprint scanner at the foot of the display.

The handset is also rumoured to feature a revamped Healthbook app, which will likely tie in with the fitness focus of the forthcoming iWatch.
