iWatch gossip is once again in the headlines this morning, after Apple posted a job ad searching for an engineer to work on ‘new platforms as of now unannounced’.
The successful applicant will also be tasked with working on ‘new products’. Tim Cook has talked often about new product categories in recent months, ensuring iWatch gossip in particular has gone into overdrive.
Apple only has three platforms at the moment: iOS, OS X and an iPod OS found on the iPod Classic.
The new platform could refer to a tweaked operating system designed to work on the small form-factor iWatch. However, insiders have also said it may refer to Apple’s much–vaunted HDTV project.
The iWatch is expected to land later this year, with a major focus on fitness and health. A new Healthbook app for iOS is said to be in development, apparently designed to work in conjunction with the sports-savvy timepiece.
