Apple will release its iOS 7.1 update ‘any day now’, according to respected Cupertino-watcher and Daring Fireball founder John Gruber.

The arrival of the tweaked platform will purportedly coincide with Apple’s iTunes Festival, due to start on March 11th at the SxSW event in Austin, Texas.

Gruber has claimed that Apple plans to livestream iTunes Festival shows via a dedicated app, which will only play nice with iOS 7.1.

In a post on his site, he claims that “a little birdie,” gave him the information.

A mid–March launch tallies with previous rumours about iOS 7.1. The new version of the OS will offer a number of visual tweaks to the keyboard and app icons, as well as a redesigned phone dialler and a ton of bug fixes.

Some chatter had suggested Apple would use the launch of iOS 7.1 to hold a keynote address, where it would also detail the arrival of its App Store, and hence games, on its Apple TV product.

As yet, however, there’s no word on whether such an event will take place.
