Would-be Sony Xperia Z2 owners can now pre-order the handset on some of the UK’s biggest carriers, as Sony's new flagship effort becomes the first of Mobile World Congress’s big reveals to hit retail.
Carphone Warehouse, which pledges to start despatching orders from April 7th, is offering the Xperia Z2 free from £47 per month on Vodafone. That gets you unlimited texts and calls and 3GB of 4G data per month.
Pick up the handset free on O2 and you’re looking a monthly outlay of £48, with monthly allowances of 5GB of 4G data.
EE’s contracts don’t appear to include a free-phone option. But Carphone does list an offer priced £52 per month and an upfront fee of £99. Allowances here are a whopping 20GB of data per month, plus unlimited texts and calls.
At the time of writing it wasn't possible to pre-order the phone on Three.
Interestingly, Carphone’s rival retailer Dialaphone is still listing the Xperia Z2 as going on pre-order in mid-March. But there’s no indication that Carphone has inked some kind of exclusivity deal, so we expect that to change soon.
Unveiled at Mobile World Congress to some impressive notices in the technology press, the water and dust-resistant Xperia Z2’s spec sheet takes in a 20.7-megapixel camera and 4K video recording.
