google calendar for android update

Google is set to wholly revamp its Calendar for Android app. That’s according to a new leak, which details the wholesale changes to a feature that's been looking tired and clunky for some time.

The tweaked app drops the naff gridlines of the current version, instead going to colour–coded dots for each date. There’s also a handy split-screen month/day view and a much cleaner, less fussy look throughout.

A new daily agenda feature will email you every morning with a rundown of what you have to do on any given day. That’s pretty handy, especially as you’re more likely to dive into your messages before you check your diary.

On top of that, Google has also worked in Google+ integration, pulling in details from your Circles.

That means you’ll get birthday information and the like without having to search it out, which is perfect if you’re a tad forgetful.

There’s no news on when this Calendar for Android update will be hitting devices. However, with Google’s I/O event taking place on June 25/26 in San Francisco, it’s likely we’ll get an official look at things fairly soon.
