A super-premium, waterproof version of the HTC One M8 is on the way soon, one of the industry’s premier leak artists claims.
According to @evleaks, the forthcoming de-luxe handset will come to market as the HTC One M8 Prime. Its major USP will be a Samsung Galaxy S5/Sony Xperia Z1-style waterproof coating, which is apparently fashioned from an aluminum and liquid silicone composite.
The purported insight into HTC's plans seemed to prompt a terse response from the handset-maker's Senior Global Online Communications Manager Jeff Gordon, who tweeted that an unnamed leaker has recently been “completely wrong about at least two of his “leaks”.
Although he didn’t name @evleaks, the industry’s foremost practioner of getting hold of pre-release device details appears in little doubt that he was the leaker Gordon had in his sights.
And with the bit between his teeth, the man his mum calls Evan opened the floodgates and leaked a slew of hitherto under-wraps information about the One M8 Prime.
.@urbanstrata P.S. Coolest feature of M8 Prime? It's made out of an exotic material, a composite of aluminum and liquid silicone.— @evleaks (@evleaks) May 19, 2014
Assuming he’s correct, and it’s worth noting here that Evan's track record is pretty much peerless, the handset’s spec sheet will also take in a 5.5" WQHD screen, putting it firmly in tablet territory.
Also on board it seems is a quad-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM and a 6 LTE radio.
News of the handset comes after HTC recently announced a smaller iteration of its current-gen standard bearer.
Dubbed the HTC One M8 Mini, the handset packs a not-too-mini-actually 4.5-inch Super LCD2 screen, a 13-megapixel camera and 16GB of internal storage.
