Recent handstets from Huawei are proof positive that its going about its bid to establish a foothold in the West the right way.

Take, for example the well received Ascend P7. 4G LTE support, an eyeball-stroking, 1080p, 5–inch display, quad-core processor and Android 4.4 out of the box add up to a pretty smart handset on paper.

And an eight-megapixel camera with a special group-selfie mode, 16GB of on board storage and 64GB of expandable memory burnish Huawei’s contender's credentials even further.

But is it more or less than the sum of its parts? We took a tour of the handset to find out.
