LG will not be making the next-generation Google Nexus 6, the G3-maker has annnounced.

Speaking with a Dutch news site, the Korean giant’s communications director made it clear that the company had been cut out of the loop.

“Normally, we were informed. Either I got ignored or we simply won’t be making the Nexus 6,” said Ken Hong.

With LG out of the running, it seems the Nexus brand could be killed off for good, as Google looks to change the way it influences its Android partners.

Recent rumours have emerged detailing the search giant’s plan for a new product called Android Silver.

This will apparently replace the Nexus brand, setting high standards for mobile-makers to attain so they can achieve ‘Android Silver’ status.

That’s likely to mean unified design and prominent use of Google products instead of proprietary software. More details should emerge at next week’s Google I/O event.
