Photos of a mock-up of the iPhone 6 in its gold iteration have surfaced online, giving us a proper idea of how the blingy edition will look when it tips up in September.

The images show a fully assembled dummy handset, complete with the rounded edges that are purported to figure in place of recent iPhones’ squared-off design. And pretty cool it looks too.

Also in evidence is the repositioned power button, which is rumoured to be making its way to the side of the handset from its usual favoured spot at the top.

Well trained eyes scanning the photos, which came to us via a trusted source of Oz tech site iFixit, will also notice narrower bezels (that’s the border around the screen).

These have reputedly been shrunk to allow Apple to incorporate a larger, phablet-size screen without supersizing the entire handset.

There’s also the familiar Touch ID button and the Apple logo cut-out in the back. This has been interpreted as a sign that this may light up in sync with notifications of new messages and social media updates.

The iPhone 6 is expected to be available in 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iterations, with the latter set to be the tech giant’s first-ever foray into the world of phablets.

Both versions will run the just-unveiled iOS 8 operating system and pair neatly with the much-anticipated iWatch smartwatch.
