One of 2014’s more welcome developments is the way Android manufacturers have finally responded to Samsung’s pace-setting kits with comparably cool devices of their own.

Stand up Sony, whose Xperia Z2 would surely have built a lot better on those rave notices and scene-stealing showing at Mobile World Congress if it hadn’t been stymied by a rocky path to market.

And stand up too, LG. The G3, which scooped a 9/10 in our review earlier this week, features a jaw-droppingly handsome 5.5-inch screen with what we described as an “absurd 538 pixels per inch”.

Also present and correct are the innovative back-facing volume and camera buttons from the G2. And the camera’s a winner too.

Although packing a relatively modest 13 megapixels, it’s augmented by a Laser Auto Focus feature that makes it easy to zone in on subjects. And, for good or ill, it introduces gesture-controlled selfies to the world too.

In the three clips here, we take a look at the phone’s design and examine the camera features and processor.

So now you know what we think. But what’s your take on G3? Let us know in the comments section below.
