A fresh photo of the handset that Samsung is backing to reboot its Galaxy range has surfaced online.

The smartphone apparently dubbed the Galaxy F is pictured alongside Samsung’s current-gen flagship, the Galaxy S5.

Alas, although it's a notably better quality image that the blurrycam images that tech sites often have to deal with, it’s hard to discern too much about the phone.

It’s even difficult to call whether it’s plastic or if, as previously leaked snaps suggest, it will finally see Samsung adopt a premium metal build for top-end Galaxy phones.

However, there’s definitely more than a hint of a smaller bezel – aka the panel around the display. That usually means we’re in for a larger screen, while enabling the manufacturer to keep the phone’s overall dimensions in line with other top-end smartphones.

Interestingly, though, if Samsung has pulled that move it casts into doubt rumours that the phone will be waterproof. Waterproof handsets typically demand a larger bezel.

Earlier this month the don of tech leaks @evleaks revealed specs for the handset. Along with a QHD screen with 2560x1440 resolution, it’s rumoured to be home to a 16-megapixel camera and 3GB of RAM. And keeping things ticking over is a super beefy Snapdragon 805 processor.

The phone, which has been named the Galaxy F in a bid to escape the cycle of ever higher numbered versions of the Galaxy S range, is expected to drop in September.
