seeko iphone 6 leak

The larger iPhone 6 won’t be available to buy for months after the 4.7-inch model, a report claims today, adding to mounting evidence that Apple will abandon the simultaneous-release model it followed for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.

According to supply-chain sources cited by DigiTimes, the Cali-based company will bring the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 to market “several months later than the new 4.7-inch model”.

The decision to shift its due date is purportedly “to avoid competition between the two models” and apparently isn’t down to manufacturing challenges posed by the 5.5-inch screen that have been rumoured on tech sites for months.

Apple now apparently regards its 5C and 5S strategy as a “mistake”. And given the much weaker-than-expected sales of the iPhone 5C in the initial period after its release, it’s not hard to see why.

News of the tech giant’s plans come after a uSwitch Tech survey revealed that it’s the 5.5-inch version that’s most in-demand this time around.

In a poll on the site, around 55% of respondents who are eyeing the next iPhone said it’s the larger model they most want.

As well as being the first-ever Apple phablet, the 5.5-inch iPhone is rumoured to feature a better camera than the 4.7-inch contender and is likely to feature a more powerful battery and processor.
