Apple is set to include Near Field Communications (NFC) and speedy AC standard Wi–Fi in its forthcoming iPhone 6, according to a source who leaked a new internal component of the device over the weekend.
The anonymous tipster, speaking with French site nowhereelse.fr, made the claims after handing over the iPhone 6’s logic board. While the part itself doesn’t back up his claims, they do fit into a wider pattern of recent rumours.
NFC has been touted for the iPhone ever since its first iteration hit shelves in 2007. But there is increasing gossip about Apple bringing it to the party this time round, as it looks to beef up Passbook and its mobile wallet options.
AC Wi–Fi seems like a no brainer, with all the best routers now offering access to this fastest of standards. Its inclusion would put the iPhone 6 at the top of the smartphone pile in terms of web access.
The logic board itself reveals little, other than a few changes to screw holes and placements owing to the larger scale of the iPhone 6. Both versions of the phone are expected to launch in September.
