A video posted online has given us a pretty complete look at how a fully operable, iOS 8-powered 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will look and feel, as D-day for the next-gen handset approaches.

The clip shows a dummy unit iPhone 6 with iOS 8, which is currently available to developers only, projected on the screen area. And it yields some interesting insights for iObsessives.

Not least is that it brings home just how different, and somehow more modern, the iOS platform looks with enlarged icons for apps.

But, as Forbes’ Gordon Kelly points out, the most significant revelation for Cupertino-watchers is that it lays bare the fact that the 4.7-inch will not be operable with one hand. In fact, about 20 per cent of the screen appears unreachable.

It was widely expected that the 5.5-inch phablet edition of the iPhone 6 would sacrifice one-hand operability on the altar on a larger screen. But it wasn’t clear this would apply to the smaller model too.

The clip comes after Sonny Dickson today leaked a separate video that appears to show that the sapphire from which the iPhone 6’s screen is fashioned is no less robust than the iPhone 5S's Corning Gorilla Glass.

Both phones are set to land in September and will feature a more rounded design with more than a hint of the well loved iPhone 3GS.

The larger 5.5-inch handset will be differentiated from the cheaper, smaller stablemate through a better camera and more processing power.
