iphone battery drain

Apple will include a 2,100 mAh battery in the upcoming iPhone 6 4.7–inch model. That’s according to analyst Sung Chang Xu, who says he’s spoken with a number of suppliers in China about the plans.

The news contradicts previous reports that the device would have a relatively measly 1,810 mAh power block. That story emerged after an image of the battery emerged on Chinese social media.

Sung, however, claims this was a test unit and that Apple is really going to use something more powerful.

Even this heftier battery will pack less juice than rival phones from HTC and Samsung, although Apple watchers reckon Cupertino’s control over hardware and software means it should have similar battery life to its competitors.

Recent uSwitch research has shown that mobile owners are more interested in basic features, including longer battery life, compared to fancy new tech.

While it’s unlikely the iPhone 6 will last much more than a day on a single charge, this move is welcome news.
