iphone 6 front and back assembled

Luxury iPhone-modifier Feld & Volk hasn’t been shy about showing off components of the forthcoming iPhone 6, surely risking Apple’s ire in the process.

And after touting snaps of the device’s internal features, including its volume rocker and camera, the company has finally put together the handset’s front and rear shells. The result is what we think is the closest depiction yet of what the iPhone 6 will look like.

The overall design is a major jump from last year’s iPhone 5S. Gone are the squared–off, sharp edges, replaced by a sleek, rounded finish.

Apple's forthcoming phone is also believed to be just 7mm thin, making it one of the slimmest smartphones on the market.

The new images also show off the new speaker grille at the bottom of the device and a Lightning port, which will presumably be able to take advantage of the reversible cable that we’ve seen so much of already this week.

Apple is set to unveil the iPhone 6 on September 9th, with an on–sale date coming ten days later. It remains unclear if it will release both the 4.7–inch and 5.5–inch models at the same time.
