Apple looks set to show off its iWatch on September 9th, a month earlier than even the most optimistic Apple fans expected.

The news comes from Re/code, which has impeccable credentials when it comes to getting the inside line from Cupertino and claims that Apple plans to reveal ‘a new wearable device’ at the iPhone 6 launch, after changing its mind about holding a special event in October.

There’s no word as yet on what we’ll see and whether the iWatch will be put up for sale in the following days.

But considering parts leaks have been nonexistent, it seems far more likely Apple will tout an early model, before starting mass production ahead of a later release.

That would tie in with analyst predictions that the device won’t be on shelves until early 2015.

Apple has pulled similar moves with previous kit, including last year’s Mac Pro and the original iPhone and iPad.

Invites to Apple’s September 9th event are expected to land in inboxes in the next few days. Two new iPhone models should be on show alongside the iWatch.
