Improved broadband provision has helped trigger a rise in online shopping, according to a new report.
The Interactive Media in Retail Group's annual study revealed that improved broadband services and the development of new 3G mobile phone options has made e-retail a far wider and more accessible provision.
Entitled 'Ten years of online shopping', the group's report also reveals that faster broadband connections and increased penetration are contributing to the commercial success of e-retail.
The news confirms the rapid development of e-shopping into an industrial field in its own right.
Internet shopping was first considered a mainstream shopping channel in 2004, when it generated revenue worth £14.5 billion in the UK alone.
