Broadband altering internet habits

6 May 2005

The internet habits of Britons are radically changing thanks to the increasing supply of broadband, a report published today has revealed.

The survey conducted by broadband ISP Pipex showed that with high speed internet access people at home and at work are using the net more frequently and with more variety than ever before.

One in three people admit to buying goods online while at work while booking holidays online is an even more popular pastime.

According to the research, nearly 70 per cent of the 500 British office workers interviewed admitted to having arranged a trip away via the net.

"The Internet is increasingly being seen as a convenient and fast way of managing our day-to-day lives, whether at home or in the office," said Dominic Crolla, managing director of Pipex.

"We know spending online is on the up, so it's little wonder British workers are swapping window-shopping for workstation-shopping."
