Global broadband to hit 80 million homes

18 May 2005

Globally, more than 80 million homes are expected to have broadband by the end of 2005, according to research analyst eMarketer.

The US is currently topping the league in the broadband stakes, with 30 per cent of US homes benefiting from broadband internet access.

Europe, however, is not trailing far behind, and is expected to reach the 40 million mark by 2007, the analysts claim, according to demon@THUS.

A recent breakdown of broadband penetration and uptake by UK constituency revealed that Cardiff Central came top, with 37 per cent of residents using the technology.
