Cable broadband popularity grows

24 May 2005

The popularity of cable broadband is growing, as the number of global subscribers to the service has grown by 22 per cent from last year, according to a new study.

The research, carried out by Infonetics Research, shows that subscription levels rose to 41 million in 2004, with 56 per cent of these in the US compared to 16 per cent in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Growth is expected to continue, and by 2008 there are expected to be 58 million people subscribing to cable broadband.

The dip in revenue, now at $145 million, was expected after the records set in 2004 and seven quarterly increases in succession.
