Ofcom, the telecoms watchdog plans to investigate the process of switching broadband internet service providers (ISPs).
The watchdog held a meeting with broadband providers and consumer groups discuss how the process could be made simpler and more efficient for the consumer.
Ofcom is worried that broadband customers are finding it hard to switch between ISPs because the process of leaving one contract and going to another is lengthy and involves a great deal of red tape, according to This is Money.
Alan Tattersall, director of home services and communications at uSwitch, said: "The concern is how do customers change suppliers.
"At the moment switching is not as easy as you'd think and people can be left for up to ten days without broadband."
One of the ways Ofcom is expected improve broadband migration is considering the length of contract broadband customers are locked into.
