Broadband prices drop

10 June 2005

The choice of broadband supplier continues to grow for the consumer, as prices carry on falling.

In the last month, four leading broadband suppliers, Toucan, Tiscali, Virgin and ntl have slashed their prices and introduced new special offers.

Furthermore, independent comparison and switching service uSwitch.com Communications has predicted that this is a trend that is set to continue.

Jon Miller, director at uSwitch.com, said: "We know that consumers are worried about the price of broadband packages with over a third (35 per cent) citing cost as being the biggest obstacle but this really isn't the issue any more.

"With more and more competitive packages coming onto the market, it really is a great time to switch to broadband, however it can be daunting to try and work out which one is the right deal for you."

He added that one of the key features to come out of the growing competition in the broadband market was short-term contracts, which he said gave consumers greater freedom and choice.
