Broadband speeds up

19 August 2005

Competition is hotting up in the broadband market, and is expected to bring big benefits for consumers.

A recent spate of announcements from internet service providers (ISP's) regarding the speeding up of their broadband services means better value for people with or wanting to sign up to a broadband connection.

Virgin.net and BT have increased broadband speed recently, with BT boosting its slowest ADSL service to two Mb.Ntl announced last week that its new 10 Mb service will be added to many existing services at no extra cost.

Meanwhile, Tiscali has just launched a summer sale on its broadband products, doubling its one Mb product to two Mb, all for the same £15.99 a month.

Telewest hinted that by 2007, 50 Mb will be the average for its residential broadband services.
