An internet service provider (ISP) has announced that it is increasing the connection speeds available through its packages, after completing successful trials.
Nildram said that speeds of up to 8Mbps would be available to customers across the country, where telephone exchanges have been equipped with the necessary technology.
The good news for consumers is that the company said its existing customers could upgrade to the new speed at no extra charge.
Subscribers to the firm's Broadband 2, Broadband 2gO and Broadband 2go Lite packages will be able to take advantage of the 8Mbps speeds.
Business users on the Pro 2000 and Pro 2000 Fully Managed subscriptions will also be able to surf at the new speed.
Sean Stephenson, managing director of Nildram, said: "We are very excited about the go-live of our high speed service.
"The trials were hugely successful so we are really looking forward to replicating this success nationally and offering these faster speeds to more of our customers."
To see if they can achieve the 8Mbps speeds, consumers can check the information on enabled exchanges available at Nildram's website.
