Tiscali reaches 1m subscribers

12 May 2006

The internet service provider (ISP) Tiscali has announced that it has now crossed the one million subscribers mark in the UK.

In its latest corporate report, the company said that it had increased subscription numbers by over 50,000, meaning that it reached the magic million.

The achievement was the crowning glory of what was a very strong performance from the ISP during the first three months of the year. Revenues generated through its broadband business had increased by 89% from the level seen in the same period of last year.

It also experienced a growth in the number of active DSL lines of 116% from a year ago.

Tiscali also revealed that it was continuing its work to install equipment into telephone exchanges, a process known as unbundling, in order to reach more customers.

"A significant migration of customers to the unbundling mode is expected starting from the second quarter 2006," it said.
