BT has received the rights to show near live Premier League football matches on its on-demand service.
It said that 242 matches would be shown on its BT Vision service. Football fans will now be able to pay to watch each match without paying an upfront subscription.
The matches will be available from 22:00 on the day of kick off for a period of 50 hours, allowing fans a period of flexibility.
"This is a landmark moment for sports viewing in the UK as BT Vision customers will have great control, convenience and choice over the games they want to watch without the need for an upfront subscription," said Dan Marks, chief executive of BT Vision.
"This is a great example of the added value that BT broadband delivers."
The deal, which BT secured in a joint bid with Sky, covers the next three seasons.
BT Vision has already secured programming from the likes of BBC Worldwide, Paramount and the National Geographic Channel for its output.
