Buying broadband now helps charity

6 June 2006

BT has announced that it will make a donation to Sports Relief when customers sign up to one of its broadband packages online.

The company has said that it will donate £30 to the initiative run by Comic Relief and BBC Sport every time one of its packages is purchased online and will also donate £2 for items bought through its online shop.

Chris Jones, general manager of BT Consumer Indirect Channels, said: "BT Broadband is now even faster at speeds of up to 8Mb, and to celebrate we're giving £30 to Sport Relief for every online order."

BT has supported Comic Relief since it first began in 1985. Consumers can pick up a range of items from its internet store.

"We sell a wide variety of products through our website - from text compatible Bluetooth home phones, to the latest in videophone technology - helping our customers take full advantage of broadband," said Phil Pinkham, head of marketing at BT home communications.

"We are delighted to encourage customers to support Sport Relief whilst shopping online," he added.
