Azzurri Communications put pressure on Kingston Communications with the news that it was to provide broadband competition in Kingston's stronghold of Hull.
Kingston's head office is based in Hull and until recently, the communications company enjoyed a monopoly of internet communication in the city. Azzurri Communications plans to run its alternative service from its engineering office in Hull and will include a team of client account managers and technical staff.
Steve Cowley, divisional director of Azzurri Communications, declared how pleased he was to be able to bring competitively priced wireless internet access to the city, which would allow local businesses to take part in technological advances like Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP).
"It's fantastic that Hull businesses will now be able to exploit this state of the art wireless technology that is already available in London and Oxford," Mr Cowley enthused. "We are committed to the continuing regeneration of Hull and this is a natural extension to our investment programme."
"Businesses, schools and government organisations who are currently connected to Kingston Communications' network will now be able to benefit from our high availability bandwidth service and, in many cases, more competitive pricing," he added.
Azzurri Communications was formed in 2000, and is currently one of the largest converged voice, data, and managed service companies in the UK with an annual turnover of approximately £100 million.
