Residents at the Meadows estate in Bolton have been left without the high speed internet they were promised after BT failed to replace the dial-up access by Christmas.
According to the Bolton News, BT told the residents that the antiquated system would be replaced before December 25th but now they may have to wait until February, thanks to an unforeseen technical glitch.
One resident, Richard Hornby, told the paper of his frustration at the lack of information being made available to those living in the area.
"I'm disappointed about this setback. We live in hope that we will get it eventually, but BT just keep us in the dark about it," he said.
"They could drop leaflets round the estate or something and keep us updated."
A BT spokesman told the paper that the company was still committed to completing the project but that it was "unlikely" to be finished before February 2007.
"Everything was going well and we were hoping to have the residents connected by Christmas. Unfortunately there has been an unforeseeable delay due to technological problems," he added.
