Ian Livingston, the chief executive of BT Retail, has stated that BT still offers the best solution for providing home telecommunication packages.
Following the launch of Virgin Media, a product of the Virgin Mobile and ntl Telewest merger, Mr Livingston argued that the flexibility of BT's media package was superior to its rivals in the industry.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, Mr Livingston commented: "With BT you can get broadband, you can get fixed line phone, you can get mobile and you can get TV.
"We now have 3.4 million broadband customers. What we have seen in the last few quarters is that they are rushing to BT because they recognise the value and customer service that BT provides."
He added that "customers are voting with their wallets and their feet", with next season's deal to show Premier League football offering even more variety to customers.
