Ofcom: 27,000 broadband complaints last year

8 March 2007

Telecommunications regulator Ofcom has revealed that over 27,000 customers lodged a complaint against their broadband provider last year.

From January 1st to October 23rd 2006, Ofcom received 26,926 complaints or "expressions of dissatisfaction", according to pcadvisor.com, although the regulator was quick to point out that there was no way of telling if the complaints were all genuine.

Also, in several cases consumers called up to complain about their high speed internet service without knowing who their broadband provider was - in cases such as these Ofcom could not attribute the complaint to a specific supplier.

Providers who were struggling financially, new to the market or rolling out new services were those most likely to receive criticism, with Bulldog, E7Even, Orange, Talk Talk, Tiscali and Wanadoo all racking up complaints.
