Telecommunications company Tiscali has become the latest broadband provider to offer on-demand TV content, boasting an impressive offer of film downloads for just 99 pence.
By teaming up with Arts Alliance Media, a European provider of digital film distribution services, Tiscali is able to offer over 500 films for consumers to download from its on-demand service, named Movies Now.
The 99 pence fee is limited to slightly older movies with more recent films costing £2.99. For high definition quality versions the price jumps again to £3.49. The downloads are for rental purpose only and expire after seven days.
Consumers are also able to buy movies outright so that they can watch them as many times as they like for a larger price, dependant on the film.
Alex Hole, Online Media Director at Tiscali, told webuser.com: "We are living in an on-demand society and there is a real consumer hunger for on-demand media and entertainment.
"Tiscali has been offering films on-demand for some time, but we are now pleased to offer a comprehensive top quality catalogue that includes new and classic blockbusters."
Current releases available for download include The Bourne Identity, 8 Mile, Bridget Jones and United 93 as well as the more recent, Children of Men, Jarhead and Smokin' Aces.
