Broadband provider BT has acceded that its customers have been experiencing slower than expected broadband speeds and has pledged to restore bandwidth as soon as possible.
Overcrowded exchanges have led to many BT customers experiencing relatively slow bandwidth speeds which are simply not in line with the 8MB and upwards speeds boasted by BT's rivals.
In response to customer enquiries into the lack of high-speed broadband services, BT issued a statement declaring: "Broadband usage in the UK has been one of the great consumer technology success stories and we are aware that this accelerating demand has meant that a few exchanges can be congested at very busy times.
"The broadband team at BT Retail is working with our BT Wholesale colleagues to resolve this issue as soon as possible."
BT continued to stress that its customers needs were being put first and assured subscribers that the new programme currently being installed would provide a greater bandwidth and more speed for consumers in future.
This news comes just two weeks after BT announced that the "speed wars" were over between the broadband providers since they were now all reaching their upper technological limits.
