29 August 2007

Tiscali customers will soon be able to watch TV shows from around the world via the internet, thanks to a new deal with JumpTV.

Video players for the on-demand broadcaster will be added to the Tiscali UK portal in its entertainment section and users of the service will be able to watch TV from 70 countries all over the world.

It is thought the library of TV shows will be categorised by region, language and country from TV channels in Pakistan, India, Jamaica and Bangladesh.

Channels including Al Jazeera, CVM (Jamaica), Euro D (Turkey), and 2M (Morocco) will be available for live viewing, on a monthly subscription basis.

"At Tiscali, we understand how important video content is to our users, as the entertainment section is one of the most popular in our extensive portal," Alex Hole, Head of Online at Tiscali UK explained.

Meanwhile, Isaza Tuzman, President of JumpTV said: "Satellite and traditional cable TV providers have proven for years that there is a strong appetite for international television in the UK, as the country is a hub for Asians, Middle Easterners, Africans and continental Europeans.

"Couple these demographics with the UK's very high broadband penetration rate and you have JumpTV's second largest target market after North America."
