The Carphone Warehouse is giving away 200 free laptops as part of a new promotional deal with AOL.
The telecoms provider has revealed that it is to distribute 200 Dell laptops to members of the public in Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham and Southampton today, 6th September.
Those people fortunate enough to pick up a free computer will then have to register it at their local Carphone Warehouse store to also get two years of free broadband.
The giveaway is part of Carphone Warehouse's AOL Broadband 'free laptop' offer through which has been extended. Customers who sign up to AOL broadband in store will get a laptop.
"This is us literally 'setting 200 Dell laptops free' to passers-by," Charles Dunstone, Chief Executive of the Carphone Warehouse explained.
"The reason for doing something so bold is that we really want to revolutionise broadband use in the UK and make it accessible to each and every one of us - freeing Britons from the constraints of wired technology."
The news comes as Telefonica O2 has revealed plans to launch its broadband internet service, Be, across the UK from October.
