Broadband provider Pipex's wireless arm FREEDOM4 has announced ambitious new plans to introduce its wireless technology to students in Milton Keynes.
The Buckinghamshire town has notoriously poor ADSL networks, ISPreview reports, making it a hotbed for WiFi firms wishing to test out their new technology.
Following suit, FREEDOM4 announced that it will offer 60 of its new WiMAX connections, along with a laptop, to students at the town's Leon School and Sports College.
Commenting on the new joint partnership, Business Development Director at the firm Graham Currier commented: "I'm delighted to be expanding the use of WiMAX in Milton Keynes and helping to benefit the community.
"Using WiMAX the students can now access the internet, an increasingly important resource in today's education. We are looking forward to extending our WiMAX service to other areas of Milton Keynes."
FREEDOM4 claims that WiMAX is capable of delivering download speeds of up to 100Mbps - massively outpacing mainstream broadband services currently on the market.
