BT, the UK's biggest broadband provider, has announced a further increase in subscriber numbers.
According to latest quarterly figures, released yesterday, the telecoms firm now has 4.07 million broadband customers - a net rise of 178,000.
Moreover, the total number of wholesale broadband connections managed by the firm rose to 11.7 million - 3.2 million of which were unbundled lines run by rival ISPs.
Chief Executive of BT Ben Verwaayen said: "We are achieving significant transformation of our business which will deliver further efficiencies alongside faster, better, smarter services for our customers.
"We continue to be the UK’s number one retail broadband provider."
There was also an update yesterday on BT's 21CN super-fast network project - currently on trial in the West Midlands.
A roll-out date for the 24Mbps service was pencilled-in for spring 2008 by BT.
