7 January 2008

BT and Microsoft, have announced a new deal - which will see the telecom service's forthcoming TV services enabled for the computer giant's Xbox 360 games console.

The link-up, between two of the UK home entertainment market's most powerful players, will see all BT broadband customers able to receive the new BT Vision services on their home TV sets, using their Xbox 360s as a set-top box.

Microsoft Head of Entertainment Robbie Bach made the announcement during Bill Gates' keynote address yesterday at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Financial details of the deal remain undisclosed.

"Very little information on the service was revealed but Bach said that UK consumers will be able to buy an Xbox 360 from BT as a retailer and service provider," Pocket-lint.co.uk reports.

At just over four million subscribers, BT is the UK's largest broadband provider in terms of customer numbers.
