A mobile telephone bill of £11,000 has been handed out to a couple for downloading episodes of the television show Friends via a handset.
Such a fee has been billed to the consumer and his wife because a portion of the downloading took place when he was in Germany, reports the Times.
The man's service provider is Vodafone and the company claimed that individuals are informed when charges increase for overseas use.
Chief Executive of Ofcom Ed Richards stated that the organisation "will be looking to take action" in the wake of the development.
The service offered by Vodafone was apparently an unlimited broadband one that allows consumers to have free downloads in the UK.
In related news, new guidelines are set to be issued regarding charges handed out by mobile and broadband providers by Ofcom later in the year.
Fresh regulations could mean that charges incurred by customers, including those when they exit a contract, are decreased.
