'More action needed' in Norfolk

Further action is needed in the bid to improve the broadband services available to people in the Norfolk area, one politician has claimed.

Norman Lamb, MP for North Norfolk, stated that various parties need to come together if more consumers are to get better access to the technology, reports the Eastern Daily Press.

He said that estimates hint that the number of those currently connected to fast broadband solutions is lower than the average in the country.

"There are a lot of people and small businesses out there who are not able to access the benefits of broadband," he told the paper.

He added that this might be down to the rural setting of the area, but that there can be ways to alter the situation.

In related news, Viviane Reding from the European commission stated that the economy could be helped if broadband penetration levels rise in the European Union.
