Improved broadband services could be offered if there is a greater link between the relevant agencies, Scottish minister for enterprise Jim Mather has claimed.
Access to these solutions may be easier to obtain if a similar scheme to the Scottish Reach Project was opened up elsewhere in the UK, Mr Mather asserted, as reported by the Telecom.
He stated that the targeting of particular areas may lead to enhanced services, for instance in remote locations.
And the politician noted that the drive in Scotland that has looked to generate quicker broadband for businesses may add between £2 billion and £6 billion to the economy.
He told Computer Weekly: "When you look at the US and Canada, there is a very interesting pattern. Relatively small provinces such as Alberta and British Columbia are cracking on with their broadband deployments."
Last week, Voipfone announced that it is to introduce a new Voice over Internet Protocol service for consumers.
